8 kWPanasonic Z Series 8kW Split System
The 8kW Panasonic Z Series (model CS-Z80YKR) is sized for open-plan living and dining areas. As a guide, it cools a room of up to about 57 to 67 m². That is from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' sizing chart for an insulated room: the larger figure if it faces north, the smaller if it faces east. Western sun, poor insulation and high ceilings bring it down. Like the rest of the Z Series it runs nanoe X air purification around the clock. If the space is bigger, has high ceilings or strong afternoon sun, step up to the 9.5kW.
Part of the Panasonic Z Series Deluxe Split range, Panasonic's split system line, in 8 sizes. Running costs below use the Sydney median rate; the Eastern Suburbs and Western Sydney pages cost systems on their own network tariffs. Check the size against your rooms, compare it with other 8 kW options, see every 8kW split system ranked by running cost, or ask about supply and installation.
About $581 a year at the current Sydney median electricity rate: $216 of cooling plus $365 of heating, from the official GEMS test figures.
The Panasonic Z Series 8kW uses 652 kWh annually for cooling and 1101 kWh annually for heating, based on official GEMS test data for Sydney's climate zone. These figures reflect typical usage patterns in Sydney and form the basis of the running cost estimate shown separately on this page. The system's efficiency is rated at 3.34 AEER for cooling and 3.83 ACOP for heating.
For cooling, the system carries a 3.5-star energy rating under Sydney's zoned label system, while heating is rated at 2.5 stars. The unit uses R32 refrigerant. Your actual annual energy consumption will depend on how often you run the system, your temperature settings, and factors such as insulation and sun exposure in your home.
