Air Conditioning Repairs in Sydney
Not cooling? Strange noises? Water where it should not be? We diagnose and repair air conditioners from every major brand across Sydney, the Central Coast and Wollongong, with the common parts already on the van.
What’s included
How it works
What it is doing, and what that usually means
| Symptom | Usual cause | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Blowing warm air | Low refrigerant from a leak, or a failed sensor | Pressure test, trace the leak, quote the repair before we fit anything |
| Water dripping inside | Blocked condensate drain or a full tray | Clear the drain, check the fall on the line, run it and watch it |
| Trips the breaker | Tired capacitor, shorted contactor or a failing fan motor | Electrical test at the unit, isolate the part, replace it |
| Runs then shuts down | Short-cycling on a stored fault code | Read the controller history and diagnose from the code, not the symptom |
| Noisy outdoor unit | Fan bearing, loose mount or debris in the coil | Inspect, quote the part, fit it on the day where it is on the van |
| Remote does nothing | Flat batteries, a lost pairing or a dead receiver board | Confirm at the unit first, so you are not paying for a board you do not need |
What a repair visit covers
What the callout covers
- Confirming the fault on-site rather than taking the symptom at face value
- Checking mode, setpoint, filters, airflow, drain and electrical connections
- Reading the fault history stored in the controller
- A fixed repair price you approve before any work starts
- Fitting and retesting where the part is on the van
What it does not cover
- Parts we did not fit: you are not charged for them
- Ordered parts, until you have seen the price and the wait and approved both
- Work on a system the manufacturer should still be covering under warranty
When a repair stops being worth it
Worth repairing
- Part-level failures: capacitors, sensors, contactors, fan motors
- Units under roughly ten years old with no history of repeat faults
- Systems on a current refrigerant, where parts and gas are still easy to get
Worth replacing
- A failed compressor, where the part approaches the price of a new system
- A leak in a system running the older R22 refrigerant
- A unit that has needed three visits in as many summers
General Repairs, explained.
Split system
Ducted systemHonest diagnosis first
You get the diagnosis fee quoted before we book, a clear explanation of what failed, and a fixed repair price before any work starts. Nothing gets replaced on a hunch. If the repair does not make economic sense on an old unit, we will say so and quote a replacement instead of taking the repair money.
Ducted and split repairs are not the same job
On a split system almost everything is reachable: the head, the outdoor unit and the pipe run between them. On a ducted system the fault can sit in the fan coil in the roof, in a zone motor, in a damaged duct run or in the controller, and finding it means getting into the roof space. Tell us which one you have when you book.
General Repairs: common questions
How quickly can you book a repair?
Standard repairs are usually booked within a few business days. If it cannot wait, our 24/7 Emergency Repairs service jumps the queue.
What does the diagnosis cost?
It is quoted when you book, before anyone comes out, and it covers the technician finding the fault and pricing the fix. The repair itself is a separate fixed price you approve first.
My system is blowing warm air: what should I check first?
Check the mode is set to cool, the setpoint is below room temperature, and the filters are not clogged. If those are fine it is often low refrigerant or a failed sensor, and that needs a proper diagnosis rather than guesswork.
Do you carry parts with you?
The common ones: capacitors, sensors, contactors and consumables ride on the van, which is why most repairs finish in one visit. Anything less common is ordered, priced and approved before we fit it.
Will you repair a system you did not install?
Yes. Most of our repair work is on systems installed by somebody else.
Does my air conditioner need a regas?
Usually not. A sealed system does not consume refrigerant, so if it is low there is a leak, and topping it up without finding the leak just sells you the same repair again next summer. We look for the leak first.
Do you repair in Wollongong and on the Central Coast?
Yes. Wollongong and the Central Coast are inside our normal service area, along with Sydney.
My unit is over ten years old. Is it worth fixing?
Sometimes. It depends on which part failed and what refrigerant it runs. We will quote the repair and the replacement and tell you which one we would choose.
