Good to know

Deep Cleaning, explained.

More than a filter rinse

A deep clean takes the indoor unit apart. The barrel fan comes out, the coil and barrel get a chemical anti-bacterial wash, the filters are washed, the drain tray and drain line are flushed and the outdoor coil is rinsed, with the wall covered so nothing drips.

On a ducted system the return air grille and filter, the fan coil unit's coil and fan, the ducts and the outlets are cleaned, and leaky duct joints are sealed.

Who needs it most

Allergy and asthma households, rentals between tenants, and any system that smells musty on start-up. A clean system also runs more efficiently: grime on a coil is insulation where you least want it.

FAQs

Deep Cleaning: common questions

My air conditioner smells when it starts: is that mould?

Usually, yes: mould and bacteria build up on the damp coil and barrel. A deep anti-bacterial clean removes it; running fan-only mode after cooling helps stop it coming back.

Is duct cleaning worth it?

If ducts are dusty, mouldy or leaking, yes: you are otherwise pushing conditioned air through the problem. We clean the ducts and seal leaky joints in the same visit.

How is this different from a regular service?

A service checks and maintains the whole system. A deep clean is the layer under it: dismantling and washing the indoor unit, and cleaning and sealing the ducts on a ducted system, specifically for air quality.

How often should I book a clean?

Once a year, or sooner if the unit smells musty on start-up or someone in the house has allergies.

Do you sanitise or fog the ducts?

No. The parts that get dirty are taken out and washed, the ducts are vacuumed and cleaned, and leaky joints are sealed. We do not use sanitising sprays, deodorisers or fogging.
