6 kWFujitsu Lifestyle 6kW Split System
The 6kW Fujitsu Lifestyle Split (model ASTG22KMTC) is sized for large living rooms and small open-plan areas. As a guide, it cools a room of up to about 45 to 50 m². That is from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' sizing chart for an insulated room: the larger figure if it faces north, the smaller if it faces east. Western sun, poor insulation and high ceilings bring it down. It sits in the lower half of the Fujitsu Lifestyle Split range. If the space is bigger, has high ceilings or strong afternoon sun, step up to the 7.1kW.
Part of the Fujitsu Lifestyle Split range, Fujitsu General's split system line, in 7 sizes. Running costs below use the Sydney median rate; the Eastern Suburbs and Western Sydney pages cost systems on their own network tariffs. Check the size against your rooms, compare it with other 6 kW options, or ask about supply and installation.
About $460 a year at the current Sydney median electricity rate: $150 of cooling plus $310 of heating, from the official GEMS test figures.
The Fujitsu Lifestyle 6kW uses 454 kWh annually for cooling and 935 kWh for heating under standard Sydney climate conditions, according to official GEMS registration data. The cooling efficiency rating is 4 stars, with a rated AEER of 3.79. For heating, the system carries a 2.5-star rating and rated ACOP of 4.23. Your actual running costs will depend on how often you operate the system and current Sydney electricity rates.
The system uses R32 refrigerant. To understand your likely expenses, apply the official annual energy figures to your local electricity rate. This gives you a reliable basis for comparing running costs against other systems rated under the same Sydney climate zone test conditions.
